Understanding plans and what is free

Design and testing are free on every plan; production runtime, PHI under BAA, retention and support are what you pay for.

The commercial model is one sentence: design is free; running in production is paid.

What is free, forever

On the Free plan you get:

  • Unlimited projects and channels
  • The full visual designer, including Monaco editing and in-browser stage runs
  • Mirth Connect XML import
  • A sandbox environment with a 60-minute idle timeout
  • 10,000 messages per month at 5 messages per second
  • 3 seats, 5 alert rules, 7-day retention
  • Message reprocessing and audit events
  • Community support and this knowledge base

Nothing about designing, importing or testing a channel is behind a paywall.

PHI is the important line

The Free plan is restricted to synthetic data. Protected health information is permitted only on Team and Enterprise, and only under a Business Associate Agreement.

This is not a soft guideline — it is the condition under which the platform is offered. If you are piloting with live patient data, you need a paid plan and a signed BAA first. See PHI, BAA and data handling.

Overage is soft

Exceeding your included message volume does not stop clinical traffic. You are notified at 80% and again at 100%, and you can add message blocks of 100,000 messages from the billing page. See Managing your subscription.

Self-hosting

The engine is free forever regardless of plan. If the hosted model does not fit — for example because PHI cannot leave your network — you can export the project and run intu-dev yourself, optionally with a paid enterprise support subscription.
